The Calhoun Rural Fire Association responded to the Calhoun Highschool at 1:20 AM early Saturday, February 28th 2009 for a report of a structure fire. When fire fighters arrived on scene, smoke and fire were showing out of the front windows of the structure. An exterior and interior attack was performed by fire fighters in a timely fashion. Fire fighters were able to confine the fire to mainly the offices, however the "Computer Room" and the "Art Room" sustained some fire damage. Immediately after the fire had been supressed, Fire Chief Kendall Price asked the Missouri State Fire Marshalls Office to conduct an official fire investigation of the structure.
The Fire Marshall's Office conducted its investigation of the fire and determined the reason of the fire to be Arson. A search of the structure locacted both a window and a door to which the perpetrator forced entry into the structure. No suspect names have been released yet. We are strongly encourgaging anyone whom has any information regarding the suspect or suspects involved, to call the Arson hotline at 1-800-39-ARSON.
