Tanker 1, Engine 3 and Rescue 4 responded to the 500 block of NE 701 RD to an alarm of a large group of hay bales on fire. Upon arrival on scene fire fighters discovered over 40 hay bales on fire near a home and work shed. Fire fighters quickly worked to try to cut the fire off from spreading, and with the assistance of the home owner and neighbors on tractors, the fire was cut off from spreading to surrounding hay bales.

Also assisting our fire fighters on scene were several fire fighters from the Windsor 4 County Rural Fire Department. Windsor was requested for mutual aid to assist with the battle of the hay bales on fire. After investigation it is believed that the fire was started by arson. The Henry County Sheriffs Department conducted an investigation and has found evidence to support this claim. Click on photo to enlarge!
